Gophers do well in home track meet

The Chatfield High School track and field teams participated in their first outdoor meet of the spring as they played host for the Chatfield Invitational meet last Tuesday. In only their second meet of the year the Gophers had a number of impressive performances, with the girls' team finishing fifth out of seven teams and the boys' team finishing first.

Boasting an experienced roster that is returning eight letter winners from last year's team, the Chatfield High School baseball team is expecting to be a contender in the Three Rivers Conference.

Golfers fall in season opening meet
The Chatfield High School golf teams began their seasons last Tuesday in Caledonia at Ma Cal Golf Course. The par-36 course proved to be too much for the Gopher golfers as both the boys and girls squads fell to the more experienced Caledonia/Spring Grove teams.

Gophers track team gets strong start, followed by long wait
The Chatfield High School boys and girls track and field teams began their 2014 seasons back in March at the Byron Indoor Meet, which was held at Rochester Community and Technical College, with a strong showing. Although most of the Chatfield participants were limited to two events in this early stage of the season, the Gophers placed in a numerous events.

The 2013-14 Three Rivers Conference scoring leader is 11th grader McKenzie Kirtz, Southland, averaging 20.70 points per game in 20 TRC games.

Conference boys basketball statistics show some deadly shooters
The top offensive team in the Three Rivers Conference is Caledonia, averaging 78.53 points per game, and the top defensive team is Rushford-Peterson, giving up 47.10 points per game.

Two Gophers named all-conference
Chatfield had two players named to the Three Rivers all-conference team in boys basketball. Jayme LaPlante and Nate Skare, both seniors, were the Gophers named to the team.
