Warren I. Freeman, 94, of Spring Valley, died on Friday, Oct. 19, 2018, at Spring Valley Living. 

He was born on Aug. 13, 1924, in Spring Valley to Wayland and Adelia (Brehmer) Freeman.

He attended Spring Valley Schools and graduated in 1942.

He was co-owner of Freeman Brothers and Son Construction, which helped on the construction of the Alcan Highway from the continental United States through Canada to Alaska.

He served in the Merchant Marines Military Branch during World War II.

He was united in marriage to Eileen Kirkland in 1952 in Spring Valley. They had two children Jeffry and Marsha.

He was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed fishing the Mississippi River and many different lakes in Minnesota. He was very creative and enjoyed building many different items including a boat and a crane for his tractor. 

He is survived by his wife, Eileen Freeman of Spring Valley; his son, Jeffry Freeman of Spring Valley; a son-in-law, Curt Thompson of White Horse, Yukon Territory; two grandchildren, Reid (Julia) Thompson and Ross (A.J.) Thompson; four great-grandchildren, Riley, Caleb, Nora and Del and a nephew, Daniel (Vicki) Freeman of Golden Valley.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Marsha; a brother, Darrell and a sister-in-law, June Freeman.

Memorial services for him will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Spring Valley with the Rev. Betsy Dartt officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will take place at Midway Cemetery in rural Spring Valley following the service.
