Volleyball team loses to conference co-leader W-K

The Chatfield volleyball team only had one match this past week, losing to conference co-leader Wabasha-Kellogg in three sets.  The gals are now 3-3 in Three Rivers Conference play and 4-13 overall.

This week the team will travel to Rushford-Peterson on Tuesday, host Dover-Eyota on Thursday and travel to Cannon Falls on Saturday for a tournament.

The team kept the first and third sets close, losing the first 25-27 and the third set, 21-25.  Set two was a bit lopsided as the gals dropped that one 11-25.  Coach Taylor Salisbury played 12 different players in the match with W-K.

Leading the way at the service line were Katie Ihrke (13/13), Abi Hinckley (13/14), Teagan Allen (8/9), Abby Nosbisch (6/7), Paige Erickson (7/9) and Belle Berg (2/3).  Ace serves were recorded by Ihrke (three), Hickley (two), Nosbisch and Erickson. 

Offensively, Kielan LaPlante led the team with six kills and a hitting average of .357 (6k, 1 error, 14 attacks).  McKenna Daniels and Mollie Henry each had three kills and a hitting average of .250 (3k-1e-8a).  Erickson (two), Carlie Berge (two) and Alanna Goetzinger (one) also had kills in the match.  Coming up with ace blocks were LaPlante, Daniels (two), Henry, Erickson (two) and Goetzinger.  As a team, Chatfield hit .089 (17 kills, 10 errors, 78 attacks) against the co-leader in the TRC. 

On defense Hickley had 14 digs and was 13/23 in serve receive.  Peyton Berg (5/6) and Belle Berge (6/9) had the best average in SR.  They also had four and five digs, respectively.  Also at .500 or above in SR were LaPlante (7/14) and Allen (3/5).  Rounding out the dig stats were Nosbisch (three), Ihrke (four), Allen (one) and Berge (two).
