Strong start for Beardmore, sprinters

State qualifying senior sprinter Jack Beardmore won both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes and anchored the third-place 4x100M relay as Caledonia/Spring Grove hosted a track meet for the first time in two years last Friday.

Sophomore Eliza Welscher won the girls 100M dash and ran on the second-place 4x100M relay.

In the team competition, the Warrior boys were fourth among six teams, scoring in seven of the 11 events they entered. The C/SG girls were sixth, scoring in four of the only six events they entered. 

La Crosse Central was the best scoring boys team, while Rushford-Peterson/Houston was the most successful girls team.

BOYS

Freshman Chris Pieper displayed some versatility while placing second in the 400-meter dash, third in high jump and fourth in triple jump.

Joining Beardmore on that third-place 4x100 relay were senior Nick McCabe, freshman Reed Gordon and sophomore Brody Johnson.

Three Warriors scored in the 100M dash with Beardmore first, McCabe sixth and Gordon seventh. Johnson ran fourth at 400 meters.

GIRLS

Joining Welscher in that runner-up 4x100 relay were freshman Alysha Heaney plus eighth graders Kloe Jore and Alexis Schroeder.

GIRLS TEAMS: Rushford-Peterson/Houston 148, La Crosse Central 127, Cotter 108, St. Charles 95, La Crosse Aquinas 39, Cal/SG 24

The Warriors will next compete at La Crosse Logan on Tuesday, April 16 and at Lewiston-Altura on April 18.
