The Caledonia/Spring Grove/Houston soccer girls (2-7-3) started a busy four-game week with a 1-1 tie with Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa at home on Monday, Sept. 24. Unfortunately, that would be the only Warrior goal.

The next night, also at home, the girls were defeated 5-0 by St. Charles/Lewiston-Altura.

On a Thursday road trip, the Warriors fell 8-0 at Dover-Eyota before a Saturday 3-0 shutout versus visiting Plainview-Elgin-Millville.

The Warriors scored first with a goal by senior captain Katie Bechtel, who took a through ball, dribbled down the field and tapped it past the goalkeeper.

The Wildcats tied the score in the second half before the defenses dominated two overtime periods.

The Warriors attempted 11 shots on goal to 10 for the visitors.

The Warriors were outshot 19-3 on a cold night that saw no goals in the first half.

Again, the Warriors managed only three shots on goal, while the Eagles took 28. D-E led 4-0 at halftime on another chilly night.

>>>P-E-M 3, C/SG/H 0

With injuries taking their toll, the Warriors had to play girls in unfamiliar positions against the Bulldogs. With senior captain Vivian Seymour moving into goal, the Warriors held P-E-M scoreless for the first 27 minutes.

C/SG/H “moved the ball well offensively in both halves of the game, creating great opportunities…” said coach Chris Jandt.

Unfortunately, none of the seven Warrior shots made it into the net. Meanwhile, P-E-M scored three goals on 20 shots.
