Ruen leads Lanesboro/Fillmore Central runners at St. Charles Invite

The girls finished fifth out of eight complete teams as the Lanesboro/Fillmore Central cross-country teams traveled to the St. Charles Invitational last Thursday, Sept. 27. The L/FC boys finished in 11th place. Stewartville took first place in the girls team standings while Plainview-Elgin-Millville won the boys team title.

The 5,000M course wound its way through the St. Charles Golf Course.

Varsity girls

1. Stewartville 2. Plainview-Elgin-Millville 3. Lake City, 4. La Crescent, 5. L/FC, 6. St. Charles, 7. GMLOS, 8. Kingsland

Freshman Brielle Ruen was the top Burro finisher in 18th place (out of 76 varsity runners), completing the race in 23 minutes, 3.8 seconds. Katie Prinsen was only 19 seconds and 2 spots behind Ruen, finishing 20th in 23:22.9.

Eighth-grader Addy Miner was the third Burro in, finishing 22nd at 23:38.7. Emily Snyder (23:43.8, 24th place) and Kelly Ristau (25:29.9) rounded out the team scoring. Nora Rein (25:46.6) and Mai Gjere (30.11.3) also ran in the girls varsity race.

A pair of freshmen were the first boys to cross the finish line with Riley Serfling completing the 5,000M course in 21 minutes, 27.1 seconds (55th out of 99 runners).  Tate Pieper was next in 23:01.5. Senior Daniel Erickson came in six seconds later as the third Burro in at 23:07.4.

Joey Lange (23:29.3) and Jared Peterson (24:11.7) finished up the team scoring. Benjamin Erickson (24:23.0) and Jay Bissen (26:36.6) also took part in the varsity competition.

Junior Varsity

Sophomore runner Sophie Pieper was the only girl that ran in the 5,000M race, finishing 14th in 32 minutes, 11.7 seconds.

Junior High boys

Four seventh-graders ran for L/FC in the 3200M junior high race. Nicholas Weist was the first Burro to finish the race, taking 15th place (48 junior high runners) in 13 minutes, 54.9 seconds. Isaac Snyder was next in 14:47.0, followed shortly after by Quinton Tripp at 15:09.1. Andrew Peterson was the fourth-and-final runner to finish the race (18:04.9).

Junior High girls

Three girls ran in the junior high 3200M competition. Seventh-grader Lauren Brogle finished fifth overall, running the race in 14 minutes, 45.8 seconds. Kyra Arndt was next, taking 12th in 16:36.6. The final Burro runner was Emily Mason, who took 14th place in 17:07.9.

Schedule

The L/FC cross country teams head to the Lewiston-Altura Invitational on Thursday, Oct. 4, and then travel to Plainview-Elgin-Millville for another invite on Tuesday, Oct. 9.
