Chatfield cruised to a 42-13 win over Zumbrota-Mazeppa Friday to win its fourth straight game of the season.

“The Gophers offensive line of Zach Roline, Isaiah Froese, Devontae Goldsmith, Jake Tuohy, Jonathan Frank and Sam Stevens, along with our tight ends, Nathan Goldsmith and Chance Backer, opened up some major ‘holes’ for running backs, Gage Tuohy and Carson Larrabee, for nearly 400 yards,” said coach Jeff Johnson.

Individual stats for Tuohy showed him with 246 yards on 21 carries and Larrabee with 122 yards on just six carries.  That’s 11.7 yards/carry for Tuohy and 20.3 yards/carry for Larrabee.  In the process, Tuohy scored four touchdowns on runs of one yard (first quarter, 7:12), five yards (second quarter, 1:17), 58 yards (third quarter, 2:46) and 12 yards (fourth quarter, 10:32).  Larrabee had one touchdown run of 96 yards with 4:38 left in the second quarter.

Quarterback Reid Johnson carried the ball five times for -2 yards and had a two-yard touchdown run.  Ben Roline had one carry for one yard, Backer had 17 yards on two carries and Tate Karver carried the ball twice for a total of five yards.  Chatfield had 389 yards of rushing in the game.

In the passing offense, Johnson completed four of nine passes for 58 yards.  On the receiving end of those completed passes were Ben Brogan (2/31 yards), Seth Allen (1/15 yards) and Larrabee (1/12 yards).

AJ Karver kicked four extra-points and Allen threw a pass to Backer for a two-point conversion to round out the Gopher scoring.

Chatfield is now 4-0 on the season and 1-0 against other Section 1AA opponents.  Z-M is in Section 1AAA.
