Chatfield volleyball team undefeated in conference

This past week the Chatfield volleyball team got Three Rivers Conference wins over La Crescent-Hokah (3-2) and Plainview-Elgin-Millville (3-1), improving the team’s record to 3-0 in the Three Rivers Conference. 

Fillmore Central is also 3-0 in TRC play and Wabasha-Kellogg is on top with a 4-0 record.

This past weekend the Lady Gophers competed in the Wabasha-Kellogg tournament and finished with an 0-4 record.  In pool play the team lost to Wabasha-Kellogg (0-2: 17-25, 8-25), Dover-Eyota (0-2: 16-25, 16-25) and Goodhue (0-2: 16-25, 5-25).  The team now has an overall record of 4-10.

Scores in the win over PEM were 25-21, 28-26, 23-25 and 29-27. 

Leading the hitting were Kielan LaPlante (13 kills, .258 hitting), Paige Erickson (10 kills, .280 hitting), Belle Berg (nine kills, .161 hitting), McKenna Daniels (six kills, .200 hitting) and Alanna Goetzinger (five kills, .286 hitting).  Teagan Allen also had one kill and led the team with 33 set assists.  As a team, Chatfield hit .206 with 44 kills, 17 errors and 131 attacks.  LaPlante also had 2.5 blocks, Erickson had two blocks and Berge came up with 0.5 blocks (an assist).

Chatfield served at 90.5 percent.  Leading the way at the line were Allen (18/18), Berge (16/16) and Abby Nosbisch (12/13).  Others serving were Katie Ihrke (15/17), Erickson (13/16) and Abi Hinckley (21/25).  Ihrke, Hinckley and Erickson had aces. 

Defensively, Berge led the team with 16 digs, followed by Allen (11), Hinckley (nine), Nosbisch (eight) and Ihrke (six).  Serve receive leaders were Berge (17/25), Nosbisch (18/28) and Hinckley (12/24).

The JV team also won its match.

The only statistics available from the La Crescent match: LaPlante, 12 kills; Daniels, five kills; Erickson, eight kills, three blocks, five ace serves; Carlie Berge, six kills; Mollie Henry, two blocks; Allen, 20 assists; Nosbisch, 12 digs; and Hinckley, eight digs.

Tuesday night the team was scheduled to host Lewiston-Altura and Thursday the team will travel to Cotter.
