Betty Rae Storlie, 72, sister of Spring Valley man

Betty Rae Storlie, 72, of Spring Grove, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019, at Gundersen Hospital in La Crosse.

She was born May 21, 1947, in Preston to Harvey and Shirley (Elton) Kraling.  She attended country school in Hutton Valley in the early years of her youth and is a 1966 graduate of Harmony High School. 

She married Richard Storlie on Oct. 19, 1968.  They farmed in Spring Grove Township. She enjoyed working on the farm with Richard and their two children, Stewart and Stacy, and had been active with 4-H as a project and club leader. She enjoyed woodworking and was very creative, making toys and woodcrafts, many of which were donated to benefits and charities. 

She is survived by Richard, her husband of 51 years; two children, Stewart of Spring Grove, and Stacy (Rick) Nelson of Stewartville; two grandchildren, Anthony and Emily; siblings, Bonnie (Galen) Casterton of Queen Creek, Arizona, Sheree (Jim) Gunderson of Stewartville, Peggy (Steve) Knudsen of La Crescent, Randy (Yvonne) Kraling of Spring Valley, and Tamie (Alvin) Nerstad of Mabel; brother-in-law, David (Marge) Storlie of Spring Grove; 10 nieces and eight nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Polly Kraling; and a brother-in-law, Norris Storlie.  

Memorial service was Tuesday, Nov. 26, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. Burial will be at a later date. The Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel is assisting with arrangements.
