Painting lessons
Members of the Golden Happening Senior Citizen Group in Harmony met for the last rosemaling class of the year last week. The class, taught by Betty Dowe, included three projects including a gift bag, a large charger plate and a wooden ornament rosemaled on both sides. Classes will resume during the second half of 2018 with a class on basics, painting on glass, on fabric and ornaments. Dowe has been teaching rosemaling for 37 years with formal training from Vesterheim Museum in Decorah. A grant from the Harmony Arts Council will let the classes continue next year, including some programs with the Gundersen Harmony Care Center and Clara House. For more information, visit Golden Happenings on Facebook or view flyers posted at public places throughout Harmony. Sign up is requested next year. Call Betty Dowe at 507-886-5395 with any questions.
