A 35-year-old Pilot Mound man was arrested for second degree assault after the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office received reports of suspicious gunshots near his home just after midnight on Friday, Feb. 10.
The Fillmore County sheriff’s emergency 911 dispatch received a report at 12:49 a.m. of suspicious gunshots in the 31000 block of Gunflint Road in Pilot Mound Township, north of Pilot Mound. A resident of the area reported seeing a dark colored vehicle driving by and then hearing gunshots, according to Fillmore County Sheriff Tom Kaase.
Fillmore County deputies responded to the area to investigate. A short time later, a Winona County deputy conducted a traffic stop in Winona County. The driver, a 35-year-old male resident of St. Charles, told deputies he was in the area of 31876 Gunflint Road, which is a residence that he is familiar with, when he heard several gunshots. As he drove past the residence, he said he heard more gunshots and observed the suspect in a shooting stance firing towards him. Neither he nor his vehicle was hit, said Kaase.
Fillmore County deputies arrived on scene and made contact with the suspect, who was identified as 35-year-old Timothy Kyle Kesler, of 31876 Gunflint Road. Additional occupants, adults and children, were found in this house and were all found to be safe and uninjured.
Kesler was arrested on second degree assault — dangerous weapons charge and is currently being held at the Fillmore County Detention Facility. One of the adult occupants of this residence, 28-year-old Chad Michael Loomis of Rochester, was found to have an outstanding warrant from Olmsted County for his arrest. Loomis was also arrested and turned over to the Olmsted County sheriff’s authorities.
